The refurbishment was organised into six phases, beginning with the complete overhaul of 108 bedrooms across six floors. Working in sync with the hotel’s operations, we tackled 18 bedrooms per floor in three-week intervals, starting from the top floor and working downwards.
The process involved stripping out existing bedrooms and bathrooms, installing new bathroom subfloors, tiling, carpets, lighting, and case goods in the bedrooms. Our in-house decorating team then added the final touches with new paint and finishes. Corridor carpets were replaced, and walls were redecorated during each phase as well.
Concurrently, during the final bedroom phase, we embarked on the complete refurbishment of the open lobby and restaurant. Collaborating closely with the hotel manager, we kept select areas functional for guest services like breakfast. This included installing hoardings before removing large ceiling bulkheads, forming new bulkheads, and spraying the ceiling.
We then added new floor tiles, ‘Amtico’ floor coverings, specialist joinery, booth seating, and a servery unit. Other works in this phase encompassed fitting a new illuminated back bar, refurbishing the existing bar and reception front, creating a soundproof meeting room, and establishing a private dining area within the restaurant with new sliding glass doors.
Additional tasks included transforming an existing meeting room into a gym, involving a complete strip-out, electrical rewire, new ceiling, flooring, and installation of full-height mirrors for a premium finish.
